Dear Fellow Members, As the months unfold, each season at the Calcutta Club brings with it moments of joy, reflection, and togetherness. Looking back at the recent events, one is reminded yet again that our Club is not merely a building — it is a living tapestry woven with culture, camaraderie, and cherished traditions. We began with Come September, a gentle ushering in of the festive months where familiar faces met over warm exchanges, renewing bonds that make this Club our extended family. Health care took centre stage thereafter with the Adult Vaccination Camp, reminding us that looking after one another is as much a tradition here as any celebration. The rhythm of culture followed swiftly. Shruti Sandhya filled the evening air with verse, melody, and nostalgia — an intimate reminder of Bengal’s literary soul. And then came Agomoni, a moment that deserved pause and reverence. Modelled on the iconic Mahishasuramardini broadcast, it was not merely a programme — it was an emotion. The familiar chants, the dhaak, the spirit of welcoming the Divine Mother — every note echoed heritage, memory, and devotion. Sport, too, found its rightful place in our calendar. The Darts Workshop brought cheer and precision to our indoor spaces, while the Rummy Tournament saw friendly rivalry, laughter, and a wonderful display of Club spirit. The Puja festivities reached their peak with the Saptami and Navami Lunches, where members and families gathered in large numbers. The aroma of traditional cuisine, the rustle of new cloths, and the sparkle in every eye made these afternoons truly memorable. The nostalgia of Nachiketa Ghosh, the noted music composer rekindled the spirit of the Golden era of Bengali Songs. Both the performers, the ace singer Prabuddha Raha and our very own,Aditi Ray took us to our yesterday years, commemorating the hundred years of Nachiketa Ghosh. Soon after, we travelled from Bengal to Bavaria with our very own Oktoberfest — an evening of hearty laughter, spirited music, and the joy of celebrating world cultures within our own walls. The festive glow continued with our Vijaya–Diwali celebrations. The melodious voice of Shaheb Chatterjee filled the evening with magic, while the use of green fireworks stood as a testament to our Club’s commitment to celebration with conscience. Even the youngest among us had their share of excitement as Halloween on 1st November arrived with costumes, smiles, and the playful mischief that only children can bring. The adults too had their full share of fun, in the truest spirit. Through each of these moments — cultural, spiritual, sporting, and social — one truth shines brighter than ever: a Club thrives not on events alone, but on the spirit of its members. Your participation, your warmth, and your continuing support are the heartbeats of this institution. As we move forward, let us carry this spirit of unity and heritage with pride and joy. Together, we shall continue to build upon the legacy entrusted to us — with grace, with purpose, and with affection for this Club we call our own. Warm regards,
KASTURI RAHA President Calcutta Club |
